@h8.k8: this is something that bothers me a lot! because if you would just take the time to get your child the help they need and get them a diagnoses when they’re young, they will be so much better off, rather than having to go through life without coping mechanisms or wondering “what’s wrong with them” until they’re old enough to go and get it figured out themselves if they’re able to. #autismawareness #autism #specialneeds #teachersoftiktok #parentsoftiktok
My 18 month old has presented signs of autism and had her first assessment today. I just want to help her as much as possible. Yes the guilt is there(so so strongly) but a good parent will worry there doing something wrong and get the help

that's how my parents are, that's why I'm gonna get tested once I'm 18 since they refuse to even think abt the fact I could be autistic

My parents were the opposite. The doctors were literally saying that “there’s nothing wrong with her” when I was showing autistic traits. Eventually, SOMEONE believed them. Diagnosed with autism at age 4.

No one ever told me I had autistic signs as a child but looking back I definitely did, my mom wasn’t educated enough on what it is, turns out even my psychiatrist now thinks I have signs for it💔

That was my dad's reaction when he was told I had severe ADHD. Said I was just rambunctious. Lifelong trauma from lack of medication and therapy

I've had my diagnosis since 2005 at age 2 1/2. I wasn't told until little over 10 yrs ago. And the "autism moms" want to claim I don't have autism because I can type a paragraph.

Agreed and it needed to be said! I myself was a child that needed more help and it makes it harder in adult life for sure! I wish I had the help I needed at a younger stage of life

in Germany you first have to get a couple tests of suspicion to get to the a second specialist who can officially diagnose you, and I just came back from the first thing and they said I have an extremely high suspicion of being autistic. am I allowed to tell people openly that I'm autistic already or not yet?

i provide behavioral therapy to children with autism from all ends of the spectrum (lower needs and high needs). and sometimes i think about kids i knew in elementary/middle/high school that were given a hard time by peers, teachers, caregivers, etc. and i think… damn they were just like these kids only no one cared enough to get them evaluated :(
