My question is how else am i going to feed round bales that are that easily . 2nd how short of a ring does it take for cows to get in it? Or how tall ? I’ve seen cow in the ring maybe once’s only waste is the hay

Not offended but We use hay rings. Can’t justify buying a mixer not enough livestock. We will always use one on the horses cause horses will string a bale out everywhere in a matter of hours. 😁

Probably should feed better quality hay if you are wasting 25 percent, i unroll and use hay rings both, I only feed 10 to 15 a day in rough weather, and I see less waste with using hay rings

I roll out and use hay rings . and since you dont have cattle right in these high prices some of us didn't sell out . cattle still waste alot of hay rolled out and hay dont waste alot if you have good hay and gives other cows a chance eat when others bully them out .

Rolling hay out has its place and is a good way to help poor ground but in our experience they waste quite a bit of it. Mixing it up and feeding in troughs is out of the question for biggest majority of your avg farmers. We feed in hay rings and will roll some out places we have small calves if weather gets bad. With good quality they'll clean our rings completely up versus wasting 25% by rolling out.
