Never get GAP at the dealership, you end up paying interest on it, get it at a credit union or a third party, but definitely get it

Get it through your credit union by adding it to your loan amount. Navy federal only charged me 299 for gap.

So essentially paying a big enough down payment eliminates the need for GAP because you’re financing much less than what the car is worth. Once it depreciates it more or less lines up with the open car loan.
