I remember seeing about the episode with the paradox brothers and how Joey and Yugi were strapped into a device that if they lost, these discs would send them to the shadow realm, but in the original anime, they were spinning blades that would just carve them in half like a Saw trap

The dub wasn't even subtle about this change half the time. One episode had buzzsaws that would send Yugi to the Shadow Realm if they touched him, and another had him duel on top of a glass ceiling 100 feet off the ground that would somehow send him there if he fell to the ground.
