I only started masking this year. Cognitive dissonance told me, up until then, that I shouldn't.... just because no one else does. But I don't make decision on what other people do but based on science and compassion. Too bad it took until 2025 but better late than never.

For those still masking, how do you deal with the odd looks and social repercussions of masking? I know people should treat me the same regardless but a lot of them don't, and I like when people can see my face. I've been trying to back into it but it's hard.

I wasn’t healthy before Covid, but I’m definitely worse now. I always wear a respirator, but I still get sick at least once a month.

LOVE this 🥰 we need more "late comers" to share their story. I feel like your message is more impactful to deniers than anything I'll ever say

I love the acknowledgment that you knew something was wrong with your own reaction and you explored that.

I had a childhood neighbor die at 35 because of covid. Completely healthy, able-bodied, worked as a landscaper. Was in the hospital for a very short time, slipped into a coma and died. 35. His wife still denies the dangers of covid (she’s also a Disney adult, which somehow makes a lot of sense.) People are not okay.

love this radical honesty. also so relate to the pain of losing swimming. i was training for the paralympics in 2019 and now i can barely hold my phone up. i so wish for the feeling of using my muscles and feeling strong. this pandemic took so much from everyone whether they’re covid aware or not

The message I received from an immunologist in ca. 2021 was 1) avoid getting Covid in the first place; and if you do get it, 2) do everything in your power not to get it again.

I genuinely want to know why you thought it was mild - I never stopped masking or being covid cautious. I’m so confused why so many people believed all of a sudden a debilitating virus magically became mild!

I think the deaths just look like : strikes, blood clots, cancers, cardiac arrest and heart attacks in 20-40 yr olds. It’s so frustrating.

My 2nd and last covid infection was in june of 22, almost 3.5 years ago. That's when I decided to mask religiously. At family events, traveling, church, parties, elevators, at friends houses, the store, transportation, literally EVERYWHERE.

oof maybe I need to make a radically honest video too bc this was similar to my journey 🙃 I didn’t really take covid seriously until 2021 after reading one of the Covid vaccine research papers and I was like huh maybe I should read about Covid itself and I was like OH!? 😀✨ Appreciate your honesty, it’s refreshing

I also grew up as a competitive pool swimmer & open water swimmer & then ocean lifeguard … and now I’ve been mostly bedbound from long covid :( it breaks all the ideas doctors love to cling on to about who is at risk (everyone). I’m so sorry you’ve experienced this ❤️‍🩹it’s just such a profound loss. I miss the water so much ❤️‍🩹

Long Covid since 2023, was very healthy beforehand. Now headaches every day, dizzy, tremors, seizures, tics…so many nervous system issues. And exercise leads to disabling exhaustion.

Some of us have been paying attention the whole time - and never stopped masking 😷 I hope more people come around. PS- watching the Olympics last round I was continuously flabbergasted that none of the athletes masked in indoor spaces
