yes my aunt bought 2 homes from that area and had them towed to her empty lot in Los Angeles. Those 2, $25,000 homes with the old lot is now worth a good $600,000.00 or more.👍

That’s sad they all lost their homes to eminent domain. My grandparents and all their neighbors lost their farm to eminent domain long ago. An interstate now runs through it.

Similar thing happened/is happening in Hawai’i at Fort Kamehameha. It’s less known about because they are on Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, but you see them if you fly into HNL. The beautiful historic homes are still there, rotting away as big commercial airplanes fly over them. One (Quarters 22) was used as the house in the 2015 move “Aloha.”

My dad had a childhood friend who lived here. His families was one of the last 5 that sold. They were living among empty lots by the time they left. He tells stories of going over for dinner and everyone having to pause mid conversation because a plane was flying overhead and the whole house would rattle.
