I honestly don’t understand why people are mad. Buying a couch at Goodwill and reselling it for more money is literally called flipping, and it’s a legit business in the U.S. People do it with clothes, shoes, furniture, electronics, cars even houses. Goodwill is NOT a ‘store for the poor.’ Anyone can shop there. Their items are donated to raise money for their programs, not to control what buyers do with the stuff afterward. Once you buy something… it’s yours. You can resell it, repaint it, or break it if you want. What people don’t see is the time, gas, cleaning, fixing, photos, messages, loading, unloading THAT is work. If he found a couch, cleaned it up, took good pictures and sold it for more, that’s hustle. That’s business. The problem isn’t the couch… the problem is people can’t stand seeing someone else make money in a way they don’t understand

i hope you don’t actually resell it for that much… someone definitely couldve used that couch and cant afford a fancy high priced one… Thats what goodwill is for!! Families who need things even if its second hand…. just some food for thought.

The point of thrifting is to REDUCE buying things new and contributing to overconsumption which is a HUGE issue around the world. Goodwill gets donations for free and then upsales them. This is exactly what he’s doing, but putting actual time and work into making the product better or like new, which gets more people to buy things used than who would’ve bought the used items in poorer conditions. Either way, achieving goodwill’s main goal, and still selling for less than original retail allowing low/middle income people to save money.

I used to work at a furniture store. Norwalk is VERY good quality. American made and beautiful. This easily would’ve sold in my store for $10k. Nice work.

What is wrong with the people in these comments??? I think it’s amazing you found a way to make a living by being resourceful! We should ALL be shopping second hand instead of purchasing new just because we can. Keeping more out of landfills, recycling and repurposing, cutting back on waste and retail consumerism is the way. ❤
