So cool to learn history! I read up on the Black Dinner. I’ve been in Edinburgh Castle and Stirling Castle (where history repeated itself)

The whole story is essentially a retelling of the War of the Roses. He's said how much it influenced the whole story

Hmm :
And the entire game of thrones series was inspired by the War of the roses in England from 1455-1487. That’s a fact

The Black Dinner is considered a legend and most historians believe it didn’t actually happen

Game of thrones was inspired by the wars of the roses. And I’ve been having a lot of fun trying to figure out what characters are inspired by what figures.

The way GRRM wrote this scene in the books…it is one of the greatest thing I’ve ever read. I threw my book across the room when the doors closed and the drums started playing.

Tons of crazy stuff out of Scotland. I was married to a Campbell. Check out the Campbell Massacre and then Dunoon.

I am a descendent of both the Douglas and Stuart clans. A Stuart (king James II) witnessing and begging against the executions and the young Douglas brothers being the ones who were executed.

It is surreal to walk through the same stone halls where people have come and gone, if walls could talk

It was also inspired by the Glencoe massacre which is a more direct historical reflection of the Red Wedding in GOT.

I’ve been obsessed with the Song of Ice and Fire books and GOT show for years. My Mom is obsessed with The War of the Roses and English history her whole life. Were two sides of the same coin 🤣 I finally got her to start reading the books though
