@durasole: Staff Sergeant Reckless A decorated war horse who served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, recognized for her bravery in delivering ammunition to the front lines. History and Military Service Origin: Originally a small Mongolian mare named "Ah Chim Hae" ("Morning Sun"), she was bought in October 1952 for $250 by U.S. Marines and renamed "Reckless". Trained to carry heavy shells, Reckless made numerous solo trips to supply routes. During the Battle for Outpost Vegas in March 1953, she made 51 solo trips, carrying over 9,000 pounds of ammunition and covering more than 35 miles in a single day. She also assisted with evacuating wounded soldiers. She learned to lie down under fire and seek cover in a bunker. Personality: Known for her gentle nature, she enjoyed roaming freely and had an unusual diet that included various human foods and drinks. #Historybites #Durasole
