I'm glad she was successful, but it feels like a small amount for the discrimination she experienced. still, a positive precedent has been set.

Interesting, considering the extent to which the Supreme Court tied itself into a pretzel over this. Thanks, Belle.✌️

It’s always been the case that perception of a characteristic is equal is having that characteristic no? Supreme Court ruling means nothing for that

I feel like this is absolutely common sense. there will always be people with a bias who will wilfully, in ignorance, claim the supreme court ruling as support.

This actually happened recently in the US too under the conservative Supreme Court, believe it or not… they told their employer they were transitioning and took time off work, came back to work after transitioning and then was fired. She won the case that she was discriminated against but sadly she had already passed away but still won the case posthumously- Her name was Aimee Stephens.

As an ex postie I’d be so disgusted with those that did this to her if I was working there too , so glad she won this case

This should be the case anyway. 1. Equality Act has Gender Reassignment as a protected characteristic. Regardless. 2. Perception clauses, just like in the Racial and Religious Hatred Act, are indeed those perceived by the victim, not can reasonable be expected of the perpetrator. Neither changed after the SC ruling. What did happen, is Intersex people were disenfranchised. I wonder when that will be tested.
