In my opinion, your friends can have your location. Roommates, girlfriend. However you do not need to share your location with anyone.

I’ll share my location with a single friend if I’m going on a solo hike or something like that. But permanently? No way. They don’t need to know where I am at all times. Nobody does.

With this and anything else in any sort of relationship if it’s important to you tell them and explain why. Is it just a safety thing, is it a sign of friendship to you, whatever the reason explain it and anyone who is really your friend will understand and do it. Same thing if birthdays are important for you or you don’t want them celebrated just explain

I just got into a fight with my so-called best friend and we share our locations and I no longer feel safe nor do I want them to have my location anymore but at the same time we did agree to kind of be “friends” again, but I don’t want the location anymore And I don’t wanna make things weird by unsharing

Only share it if you’re on a date with someone new or going to a sketchy place in a new area or something but it shouldn’t consistently be shared.
