People watching her would think that she is oppressed but when you realize that she herself is Christian Palestinian you would realize that she behaved as such not because of religion but cultural practice. Unfortunately the west confuses elegance, conservatism and dignity in behaving with oppression. With all respect to the western civilisation but the Quran has clear and strict 1400 year old versuses about human rights and women rights while on the other hand women in Switzerland were allowed to vote in 1971. I struggle to understand what is meant when people say that Muslim women have less freedom. What exactly is meant by freedom for women, and who gets to define it? If freedom is defined as removing a headscarf, wearing revealing clothing, or having multiple relationships and children with different partners, then is that the standard by which women are considered free? Does conforming to those expectations automatically equal liberation? For many Muslim women, freedom means the ability to choose how they live, dress, and express their values with dignity and self-respect. Choosing modesty, faith, and structure is not a lack of freedom, it is an exercise of it. True freedom should be about choice, not forcing all women to fit one narrow definition of what liberation looks like.
