@bentune: ever since the owner dropped off this 2017 cts-v, I have not had 100% confidence that it was going to be trouble free based on a few things he told me, but sometimes my gut instinct isn't right... sometimes. after I corrected a PCV routing issue and fixed the fuel pump issue outlined in the previous video, I was finally able to dig into the tuning a little more in earnest. initially, the car had a fairly noisy valve train but I just attributed it to the Delphi lifters that were utilized in the build. often times cheaper lifters, while mechanically sound, may make a little more noise than other brands. however, I noticed that as tuning progressed the engine started making more and more noise and it was becoming apparent that the driver's side was even louder than the passenger side. once I started seeing some knock and a big fuel trim imbalance in the data log, I decided that was a great time to stop and let the owner know he needed to pick his car up. he understood and requested that I try to investigate a little deeper and determine what the root cause was, as they all inevitably do. upon removal of the valve cover, the cause of the issues was immediately apparent. #bentune #mechanic #hptuners #GM #fail
