A group of England Under-16 players end up fighting while people around them stand there filming instead of trying to calm the situation down. These young players have been given an opportunity that thousands of others dream about. They’re representing their country, with scouts, coaches and clubs watching their every move. One poor decision could cost them everything. It also made me think about friendship. If your so-called friends are standing there filming you, encouraging the situation or laughing while you’re risking your future… are they really your friends? Real friends pull you away from trouble. They don’t push you towards it. Sometimes our young people don’t realise that talent alone isn’t enough. Character, discipline and self-control are just as important as ability. A football career can change your life, but so can one moment of anger. What do you think? Should young athletes be held to a higher standard because of the opportunities they’ve been given? And if your friends are filming instead of helping you, are they really your friends?
