Hi miniature maker here paint the wall the color of your grout first and paint the plates separately when you cut them just touch up the sides before gluing them down

I’ve seen people use a roll of self adhesive cork for bricks. Perfect texture. Just cut to brick size, paint, stick!

I use egg cartons to make brick. I use wall repair (the kind that goes on pink then turns white when it’s dry) over the egg carton to form grout. It looks really good! Keep us updated on the progress

I would suggest 5 minute epoxy instead of hot glue. It has more working time and creates a stronger bond

Make a template with vinyl for brick and use spackle to fill it in.
