my best advise is that if something bad happens just try not to internalize the shame around it. people will always judge and blame you but we're all making the best decisions we have with the circumstances before us. bad things happen to me while traveling and I hate how I felt I had to hide it and feel ashamed. I did the best I could. risk is real. it's part of life.
