Why do some people get like this and some don’t? My dad been an alcoholic for 30 years, never been sober for more than 6 months at a time and has seizures when he tries to stop. Drinks probably the equivalent of 3-5 bottles of wine a day. Has drank so much that he’s been hospitalised and has had seizures etc but never seen him have jaundice and his liver was fine when it was checked

My cousin died last month of this. He was only 35. Never stood a chance. Drank for a year out of depression after his father passed away. Really sad but I had to stop drinking because I think our genetics are prone to easy organ failure.

Seen comments people asking how and how much , there not being disrespectful, it’s people that know there in the same position so dont jump down there throats saying does it matter ! Yes to them it probably does ! Hope you get the help you need but the hardest part is getting rid of the people you class as friends

Wishing you the best. I’m at 1 year 5 months and struggling. I’m very lucky not to have got sick like this. I was drinking a bottle and a half of tequila a day! I got help and since then I’m ok but it’s still. Hard. Really praying for a quick recovery
