The bill still passed, because apparently even Oklahoma has a limit. Nearly 315,000 minors were legally married in the US between 2000 and 2021, 86% of them girls wed to adult men, and over 66,000 of those marriages happened at an age or age gap that should’ve been a sex crime. So next time someone tells you which political party is coming for your kids, ask them why 36 lawmakers just fought to keep 16 year olds marriageable to grown men, and called it parental rights. #friday @✨aβ✨
