@dylantettemer: This is a big topic that people discuss and here’s my experience with offshore devs #techtok #coding #programming #computerscience #javascript
sounds like a failure of management not being able to implement remote work properly

Totally hear your point about communication and handover issues. But I’d say that’s more of a project management challenge than a universal quality issue. With the right processes and tools, offshore devs can deliver amazing work. It’s all about setting up good collaboration from the start!

I’ve ran into this same experience. Some are pretty good but overall it’s subpar work

I would have a hard time understanding them over the phone unless they spoke really good English without an accent.

kind of copium, long term commitment to an offshore worker will get you all that plus much much cheaper. worry a lot about what happens when things get too expensive

Agreed it’s not even the fact they’re off shore: it’s companies going with literally bottom of the barrel contractors who return dogshit work and then companies acting surprised the work sucks lol. My company has contractor devs from Serbia and they’re great. They mostly do our QA and test automation but some are full time devs and a few of them drive a lot of good features development.

I'm a new grad with an internship right now and it's brutal grinding leet code and projects while applying since I actually enjoy programming
