I don’t necessarily hate what the people did. When I’ve done big deposits in the past the bank has put a hold on the funds for this reason or that. If you can’t figure out that the funds are good and get them to the correct account in those 7 days, that’s on the bank. The FDIC covers up to $250,000 for fraud and loss, so the bank needs to file that paperwork to make the original depositor whole and call this a lesson learned.
