Also,the bear can't just "copy" its victims last screams,it literally needs to rip out their vocal cords and "merge" with it in its mouth.Thats why in the movie,only the vocal cords of their friends were eaten,not any part of the body

The bear was one aspect that made this movie more interesting because there are animals irl who can and will mimic or just actually sound like screaming humans. Like a Lynx or a bobcat.
