Tony Gonzales, who represents San Antonio’s far west side in Congress, said the “rumors” surrounding the death of staffer Regina Santos-Aviles are false. “The rumors are completely untruthful, and Regina’s family has asked for privacy,” Gonzales said Thursday during a panel at the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin. Santos-Aviles allegedly died by suicide after reportedly setting herself on fire at her Uvalde home on Sept. 13.
