@Logan Rando Aquascaping I recently put plants in my aquarium, the substrate is fine small black gravel and I was advised to buy root tabs. Would I need to change the substrate or can I carry on with the sand substrate? Would appreciate your tips

I just use one liquid fertilizer that ive researched and if my plants starts to show they dont look good i order root tabs

I disagree, I've seen a lot of people oversimplify it by just adding seachem flourish which is a 1 part fertilizer

All-in-one ferts can be a major problem for causing algae. This is especially true if your source water has any nutrients. Many utilities add orthophosphate as an anti-corrosion agent. Test your source water before selecting a fertilizer. Almost Always better to have a high soil nutrient load & lean water column

i been starting to use soil that you can buy at home depot and filter that and use aquatic sand over that for substrate if anyone wants to try that lmk if it works for yall!!!
