The point of the loan cap is to force schools to stop artificially jacking up the price of education. It’s the same way big pharma and hospitals were jacking up prices because insurance would cover it carte blanche, so they could make more by asking for more.

SO!!! The government category is just outdated. So saying they're not professional degrees feels off because the work, pay scale, scope and licensure are all professional-level. The system needs to update its definitions, not diminish the field. Still, the whole point of this policy is to put guardrails on the runaway cost of education. Tuition keeps climbing with zero accountability, and this is basically a pressure valve to force institutions to bring their cost of attendance back down to reality.
