You got lucky . The shelter I’m in has mad mice, small roaches , then huge roaches the size of mice , flies , ceiling is cracking, floor is getting holes from the mice , and the floor is starting to sink and collapse , and the radiators are leaking . It’s ridiculous

It amazes me how most people feel “shelters” should be run down or less than because people aren’t paying for them. If more people had clean and safe shelters it would assist with their mental health and improve their faith

Ngl this is fire, I went to the shelter for the first time last year and I went back to school, thank God I’m doing way better now. If you need help don’t be too prideful to ask for help, the resources are out there y’all 🙏🏻🙏🏻

I used to stay here with my daughter it had roaches the people there were rude . Only a few ppl were nice and the case worker was a weirdo and not on top of my case . I had people come into my shelter multiple times because there security was not on top of who came in and out the building. They ended up kicking me out because I stood out two nights .

I can tell some of y'all ain't never seen how the shelters used to be. This is amazing! If You get into one it's a blessing for those struggling but remeber anyone is a paycheck away from this! SO STOP THE JUDGEMENT

As someone who lived in a shelter this is dope. The last shelter I lived in with my mom before she got housing. Was an old Church converted into a shelter that barely had heat.

id like to let yall know that shelter clients cant just LIVE in the shelter. they sign contracts agreeing to actively search for housing. if someone if clearly not tryna get out the shelter, they can get transferred or kicked out the system.

Less people would live on the street if shelters looked like this. Most have rats, roaches and are cold and sad. And that’s the shelters for women and children! I worked at one. It was very disheartening.
