Poor People by William Vollmann, published in 2007, is part travelogue, part documentary on the people of the world who are living in what most would consider "poverty". In classic Vollmann style, he set out to understand "the other" How did people get to where they are? How do they feel about their lives in their own words, and what, if anything can be done about the disparity of living conditions between peoples across the world. William Vollmann is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors, and incredibly, he's written on such a wide variety of topics, there is likely something for everyone in his body of work. #BookTok #nonfictionbooks #reading
