see the thing is - think of wicked as essentially fanfiction. wicked the book is fanfiction of the wizard of oz. wicked the music is fanfiction of the book. it sets up for the wizard of oz to happen, but its also sort of just like "wouldn't that be crazy if it were the case??" boqs hatred as the tin man is one of the main examples of this i think. in the wizard of oz, hes simply just heartless. he doesn't really have much else. his plot point isnt expanded on because at that point you start to contradict some of the story youre setting up. this has always irritated me though. while i get why they did it, i agree. he is SO interesting and so cool, i would've loved to see more of him. as for the lion, the main explanation ive seen is that because he was so young all he remembered is this green lady. he's also a victim of morribles propaganda, and remembering a weird green lady in his childhood, having so many insecurities, and learning of this evil witch terrorising oz, i can see why he'd think elphaba ruined his life, and his memory of fiyero then became overshadowed

The Lion blaming Elphaba for his cowardice is pretty much propaganda that they see her green skin as a sign of evil. He doesn’t fully remember the events from his cub hood, but remembers something green whisking him away.

Dr Dillamond losing his voice is part of the whole caging thing. Caged animals eventually lose their ability to speak. But Chistery speaking to Glinda showed that with time, they can regain their ability with time

dorothy isn’t the main character at all, the timeline of her journey is just used as a backdrop for the witches story. the tagline of wicked is “the untold story of the witches of oz”

In no good deed, she is desperately trying to save Fiyero but is convinced it didn’t work as in her visions, all she sees is Fiyero getting beaten. So she decides to play into the role of the Wicked Witch. She doesn’t know about Fiyero being alive or the plan until Chistery (monkey) hands her a piece of Fiyero’s clothes likely with the plan written in it

It felt both too long and too short at the same time to me. Like we had all this exposition in the first movie then very little pay off but man the movie drags on and on. The theatre show is like the length of a single movie and they had to add extra songs for this one, which is probably part of why the pacing feels odd at times. And a lot of the songs are reprises, which is great with a 30 min interval, but after a year waiting for it to come out it’s falls a bit flat.

no good deed was used to show that she is agreeing with appearing “wicked” to the people of oz but using it to her advantage, by her going along with the image that was given to her and then appearing to “die” in order to get escape she was still the wicked witch of the west to everyone that didn’t know her

Dorothy in Wicked is not a main character. Shes more of an extra character that happens to interact with the main cast. We don’t “see” Dorothy because they want you to still be able to imagine Judy Garland’s Dorothy. And in the stage show, she’s only ever a shadow. The events of Wicked happen before, during and after the Wizard of Ox

We have to assume that Boq thinks Dorothy in fact, killed Elphaba. Why we don’t see him after, idk.

They didn’t have any plan when Elphaba went to see her sister. That was an ambush designed by Madame Morrible. So Fiyero being taken as a result of getting them to let Elphaba go was not “planned”
