@leadership_dan: Leadership power move if you tend to go into too much detail in briefs. #leadershipdevelopment #executivecoach #powermoves #communication #templates
I mean but you say all that and then the exec makes you go through every detail to verify your bluf summary.

Meh. Maybe executives need to sit and listen and actually pay attention to their subordinates and what it’s like to be a low man on the totem pole.

I’m a senior leader and for execs I’ve always been told keep it five sentences or less and focus on bottom line and morale if situationally relevant. For my director we world build together and for those who report to me I typically reflect to them “what specific would you like me to review” before launching into anything as to not assume their level of comprehension.

that's only if your boss accepts the bottom line first. some require the build up then the bottom line so they can assess if you made the right decision......so they can second guess your 40 years of experience

Yes. BLUF, current status (wave tops), way forward, and how they can provide influence towards success. Keep the granular specifics in your pocket incase they have questions, but be sure to translate those details into their language. Don’t use tech talk to sound smarter. Communicate in a way that they understand. Know your audience, and anticipate their needs.

Coach Steve - PCC, CEC :
its a temporal capacity dysfunction or mire cleanly a Heuristic Failure: The brain is using an "Efficiency Shortcut" that prioritizes output speed over message accuracy. Instead of pausing to synthesize (which is metabolically expensive), the person defaults to a continuous stream of consciousness. When you address the shadow, the rambling becomes less of a disruption
