@kims.whims.n.chin: As a Chinese teacher of 10 years in Australia who has lived there 5 years, here's 5 things you may not know.... 1. China is far more advanced technologically than many like to admit. 2. Chinese mainlanders couldn't tell where I was born; most thought I was Chinese. Taiwanese people mostly knew I'm originally from Korea. 3. Taiwan is a fantastic place to study and work; an alternative to mainland China, the people are open and not afraid to speak up politically (they are a democratic government( 4. Whilst in Taiwan I developed an identity crisis due to constantly being questioned about my origins; I was even fired for being a so called fake foreigner. reverse racism is alive and well in Asia. it took me years to finally embrace my identity as a Korean aussie 5. living in china made me nore appreciative of my Aussie ness. Experience living abroad has broadened my perspectives and I now teach Humanities including Civics where I share about my cultural identity happily! @Kims Whims #Korean #aussie #asianaustralian #culturalidentity #teachersoftiktok
