Just more responsibility for the tech without a guarantee for more pay. All while having to use their own devices. Plus your advisor doesn't have to know anything about the vehicle now that the tech is speaking directly with the customer. All your advisor becomes at that point is a paper pusher. The techs are also now having to complete their own labor ops with warranty and recall repairs. Another job that used to belong to the advisor. So happy I left the dealer two years ago. Dealer upper management is so disconnected from day to day operations of their service departments. All they focus on is gross profit. They are all the same.

You guys can say what you want but nobody in the industry is currently being properly compensated for doing these videos. Some shops might pay to do these videos but no shop out there is compensating for the phone usage (cost of financing a good phone,insurance on the phone,using data to upload/hotspot usage, cost of using your cloud storage)

it doesn't matter how you spin it, yes video mpis are great. also yes, the technicians deserve to be paid. we are flat rate. so pay for the video mpi. end of story.

my dealership supplied iPhone 8's for all the techs to use for the videos. I still rarely make a video though

I’ll say it right now, the dealers will be in for an awakening in the future, making us do videos and getting us more confident in front of the customer what’s going to stop him from going full independent and running his own shop/mobile. Customers love mobile because they get to work one on one with the mechanic, skip the middle guy and get same quality dealer repair at a fraction of the cost. The customer will pay cheaper and the mechanic will make more money and keep it all to himself instead of dealer overhead. I see a future of maybe 2 techs at a dealer doing warranty work all day everyday. Especially in this economy you hear people all the time that only take their cars to the dealer only for free warranty work.
