In Australia we are required to move hospitals every 6-12 months as part of training. This greatly increases our exposure to different pathologies and also ways of treating these pathologies, however this means you're re-establishing rapport with a new unit every move.

So you can still do surgery on children without the fellowship but if you want to specialize in it you need a fellowship?
