I got sober a year before my husband. I'm not gonna lie, it was the hardest year of our relationship. I stuck it out and he got sober! we're better than ever!

I turned 50 in November and I decided for my birthday gift to quit drinking. My wife on her own decided to quit also. It’s been the best 7.5 weeks we’ve ever had. I physically and mentally feel incredible. As does she. Wish we did this years ago. But it is what it is, no looking back. We are excited about our future together.

It doesn't work as my ex did and i didn't unless special occasions. I now realise relationships who drink together are not wise. The highest frequency of love for a relationship won't involve a lifestyle around alcohol and/or other substances and that's the healthy relationship worth having.

Hey man, I need some help. I don’t drink but my gf rarely and on special occasions drinks and she has showed me she is good and loyal when she does. But every single time I see her drink or she talks about it or smell alcohol on her breath it really kills me and my mood. Idk what to do. I feel like im being so annoying by this but it just kills me and I don’t know what to do

Or you could just have open conversations with your partner. Yes a relationship can work. I’ve first hand watched a 50 year marriage work when one person drinks and the other doesn’t because they talk. Also they can argue and get over arguments

It’s the same thing with smoking or pretty much any addiction. I watched my parents go in rounds for years both trying to stop smoking, but one of them would keep doing it and then the other one would join back in. They both didn’t stop until my mom literally got diagnosed with lung cancer. That’s what it took. It shouldn’t have gotten to that point and it was awful to watch because my grandmother died of lung cancer at age 54. I knew that if my mom didn’t stop that was gonna happen to her because that’s what went on in my family ‘s medical history. I begged her when I was in junior high to stop.
