Most charities won't use out of date food. pets at home do donate alot of food to shelters

Many years ago I worked at the vets inside a pets at home I was a vet nurse I was always in their skips pulling food litter etc out for rescue and strays we were told off constantly but it added to living life on the edge. 🤣

Stores normally have their own charity bin/drop off. This would of been thrown out for a be reason. While working there we were told the split the bags for this very reason. Part of me feels this is more of a risk. 🤷♀️

I work at jollyes we dont throw this amount away but when we do it's due to problems with the batch, out of date or has maggots in it everything else is donated

gotta love when they choose to throw something out once its gone past the best before date instead of reducing it BEFORE. likewise with the litter etc, why not just reduce it or better yet have a bit near the exit where people in need can grab bits like this for free?
