@earnedwellness: Individuals with BPD/CPTSD were children who were left psychologically alone with unbearable emotional states #trauma #cptsd #ptsd #MentalHealth #therapy
I developed maladaptive daydreaming and couldn't wait for bedtime so I could escape my miserable existence and live in the pretend life I created in my little head, was the only time I could ever feel true happiness and be a child

I was punished for the weirdest things, but overly spoiled when they decided I deserved it. It was very confusing for me. I have significant rage issues with my BPD and I truly believe it’s from the push/pull dynamic that was “normal” in my family.

This is interesting. I have cptsd and struggle with this. Being left alone in those vulnerable states or even punished for them has caused me to not be able to process emotions with other people as an adult. Whenever things get too big I isolate which causes more problems

I remember I’d go to my room and cry and hide in the closet pretending I “ran away” to see what my parents would do but nobody ever came looking for me.

parents laughing at you when you were upset/crying or just making you stay in your room until you were “over it” sticks with you for so long, like I can’t fathom doing that to a child/teenager

my old therapist unlocked my emotions so now im feeling everything all the time all at once, about adult problems, with the emotional coping skills of a toddler. im so tired. things were so much easier when i was emotionless

We were scared of dad. All my family members were in our own islands for my entire childhood. Mom refused to be honest and we were all depressed

I’m diagnosed with both BPD & PTSD and I completely agree with this assessment. For me personally though, I ended up wanting to be alone. Alone felt like the safest place because I wouldn’t be hurt by those around me. If I’m hurt by myself, that’s fine and I can deal with it, but anyone else hurting me? No I can’t deal with it. I hate being around people, I want to be alone at home in my safe place.

When I slip up and become vulnerable, I always apologize. I feel so bad needing support so I try to hide my emotions/pain as much as possible. 🥺
