@aspace2write: Don’t make these mistakes when you’re writing emotions for your characters in your story, script, or book! #writertok #authortips #fictionwriter
thank you😁 you just reminded me to build up emotion for a nameless character before the thing happens that will make her sob and scream

The Wayfarer :
Tucked beneath the loose sketches was a single, carefully folded sheet, its paper softened at the creases from years of handling. He drew it out and opened it with a gentler touch than he'd given the others. The portrait within was complete, drawn in confident, elegant lines, a woman's face captured by a street artist he'd hired after an evening of easy conversation and shared laughter.
A faint whisper of her perfume still clung to the paper, light as memory. For a moment, a small smile touched his lips before he folded the sketch again and returned it to the box.

Human emotions are so complex to the point that every time I write an emotional scene, there would be little to no dialogue (unless they are confessing about something). Instead I would focus on their body language like dramatic eye movements, trembling hands, hesitation when moving or speaking, and silent outbursts.

I would be interested about your thoughts on how to do those big, breaking down emotional scenes without it feeling like melodrama. I have a character that I know will likely have one of those moment and while it is a ways off in the draft I've been wracking my brain about how to spin it in a way where it wont feel over the top.
