As someone who watched(I was 18) her proud, successful, educated, strong, capable, amazing mother wither into something I can only describe as non-human looking “creature” (from cancer) I’m all 4 assisted Unaliving! If ur terminal n meet whatever criteria then THEY should choose! We put animals down who r in pain n have unimaginable suffering! Shouldn’t we b able 2 do the same 4 our human loved ones! After 25yrs I still have nightmares about my moms final days n I would NEVER want my 3 kids 2 remember me like the last memory I have as a mother!

Rather than wanting to joke and smile, I imagine the family was working hard to support him in his decision, holding back how deeply sad and afraid they were actually feeling. This was their gift to him, the last they could offer.

As someone with cancer, I would rather have the option of passing with my loved ones watching the sun setting on a beach rather in the sterile environment of a hospital being my last memory……

Thankful, you are able to care for those in such horrible pain when they are consciously seeking Watched three siblings pass away from ALS. The last one chose her time and we had a beautiful morning together, laughing making jokes and reliving old memories. Thank you for your service and kindness.

People with a terminal illness may think about end-of-life medication—only available in some places—because it can give them a sense of control and help them feel less afraid of suffering later on. Sometimes just knowing the option exists brings comfort, even if they never use it. At the same time, many people get a lot of help from palliative care, hospice care, counseling, and support from family and friends. These services can ease pain, stress, and worry, and can make daily life better. Decisions about end-of-life care are very personal and should be made with doctors and people you trust. It’s a very personal decision and each person should be allowed to choose for themselves.

I have been present for four maid procedures. They were all the most peaceful, gentle empathetic, and compassionate passings as I have ever seen. I have also witnessed the passing of people in excruciating pain and agony before the maid program was available. For anyone to judge…. remember it is not your conception that matters. It’s between the patient the doctor and the family. It has nothing to do with anyone else so it’s very important to keep your opinions to yourself.

In South Africa, we don't have that opportunity to choose end of life, my son was in so much pain, he just used to say it's time to go home to Jesus,

I watched my mother suffer from ALS. She was taking experimental drugs as part of a study. She was slowly withering away until one day she decided to stop. Within hours she passed. She said she had enough and it was cruel to keep her alive.

Why can’t they make it taste better? If you’re going to ☠️that kinda feels like the least the pharmacy could do…

I do NOT understand WHY only 11 states offer this option. I’m in Michigan, and I’d like to know where/how to advocate for Death with Dignity. Seeing my mom suffer & wither away for 7 months was devastating and now, nearly 3 years later my dad is now on hospice with no real help/relief in sight. He should have a choice. We treat our animals with more compassion & dignity than our human loved ones.

I'm aware this doesn't happen all the time but, there was this woman who was days away from dying. Her final request was to go to church. Arrangements was made because she was not able to stand/walk anymore. The congregation rallied around her, prayed, and within minutes, she was cured. This is why, God forbid but, If I ever got to that stage, i would do the same thing; i want to leave it in God's hands because i want God to decide and have the last say. Don't take this the wrong way; I would still go to the doctors and specialists to see if i would go into remission. Afterall, God did assign everyone gifts at birth. Some are destined to be police, firepersons, Lawyers and even doctors.
