I moved in my house 11 years. My Alabama Power bill was $60. Today, it's $260. I'm headed to pay my bill before I get disconnected for the holiday. 😐

My bill was $443 in Alabama this month. Thats was normally just my summer bills. My bill use to be 125 in the fall and winter months.

We are already one of the poorest states, with the lowest minimum wage in the country. It’s impossible to own a home or realistically anything without the help of someone else. If you live somewhere 9/10 you have a roomate or a significant other to help you pay bills. So, being over chargerd for power, which used to be one of the cheaper utilities is actually going to put people on the streets and out of their homes. My electric bill was more expensive then my rent itself.

I don’t have Alabama power, but live in Alabama. I have Huntsville utilities and my bill is never that low. I don’t know anyone with a bill that low. Ours is $400+ per month. That’s only electric, no water or gas.

I have been saying this is wrong but we are all under the Southern Company gun. Most of do not have any other power option. The oversight commission doesn't do it's job because AL power lines their pockets. So how do we fix this mess.

These companies are deceiving consumers by blaming inflation or tariffs for their rate hikes. The situation is especially a issue with utility companies, as customers have no choice but to pay or go without essential services like power and water, unlike with cell phone or cable services, where alternatives are available. Our representatives are doing nothing about it cause they are scared.

My average bill is over $600. The only time its under $300, is when the temps are perfect outside and neither of my AC/heat units are running. There's literally just one person in my house. The average bill in Mexico is $50 for a house the same size. I'm moving there as soon as I sell my house and get my residency paperwork finished.

My bill in Iowa is usually $80-$110 (family of four, 2400 sqft). 66% of our energy comes from renewables, with 60% from wind. We have no outages here or regulations on how much energy we can consume anytime of year. We have decent utility providers and stable grid connections.
