Sometimes, without even realizing it, we can be emotionally unavailable to our kids. Here’s how it can show up: 1️⃣ You prioritize control over connection. Instead of understanding why they’re acting out, you focus on stopping the behavior—because when you were a kid it just wasn’t allowed and no one asked why you were upset. 2️⃣ You’re emotionally drained. You’re physically present, yet inside? You’re running on empty. You love your child, still stress, exhaustion, and unaligned daily priorities divert you from true core values, making it hard to show up the way you want to. 3️⃣ You struggle to comfort them. Big emotions—crying, whining, meltdowns—feel overstimulating, so you shut them down without thinking. “Stop crying.” “Go to your room.” However deep down it’s confusing because you want to break the cycle, yet when no one ever sat with you through your feelings either it’s hard to know how. 4️⃣ You try to stop their emotions instead of letting them feel. The second they start crying or getting frustrated, you do whatever it takes to make it stop—because emotions never felt safe in your childhood. 5️⃣ You compare them or silence them out of guilt. “Your sister doesn’t act like this.” “Why are you always so sensitive?” You’re not trying to hurt them—you’re just afraid of being judged as a “bad parent.” So here’s the truth: Your child isn’t the problem. Their emotions aren’t the problem. Your reactions are survival patterns from old wounds surfacing. So how do you change? 👉See emotions as a need for connection, not misbehavior. 👉Pause before reacting—that urge to snap is your nervous system responding to the past. 👉Take care of you first. You can’t pour from an empty cup. Breaking the cycle isn’t easy, and it’s incredibly worth it because healing yourself is healing for them too. #ConsciousParenting #GentleParenting #CycleBreaker #ParentingWithIntention #EmotionalIntelligence #ParentingSupport #GenerationalHealing #InnerChildHealing #MindfulParenting #HealingParenting #AttachmentParenting #ParentingTips #BreakTheCycle
