my grandma saw both of them race and she said the biggest difference is Shams jockey and owner would've killed him if it meant winning while Big Reds jockey and owner just let him do his thing. She hated how they treated Sham.

Any other horse before and after Secretariat, would have been overshadowed by Big Red as well, with the exception of Man of War. My opinion is Secretariat would have beaten Him too. If I’m not mistaken Secretariat’s time in the Belmont beat Man a War’s time by 3 and 3/5 seconds. That is an amazing stat!! Sham was a great horse but Secretariat was far more superior.

Sham the UNSTOPPABLE! This horse gave every single thing he possibly could just to get his nose in front. With a 4 pound difference in heart size he was up against a monster and never let it slow him. Sham destroyed his own body racing against Secretariat. Fighting every single millisecond just to keep up. Fighting millions of years of self preservation instincts. And when he ended last it was not a lack of effort. Even death couldn’t stop him. Sham only survived because his handler held him back and I’m glad for it. A true warrior and example of determination and drive. The ultimate foil. Sham is my favorite horse of all time not because he’s the fastest. It’s because he’s the most driven athlete in the history of sports.😤🤘🏼❤️Sham the Unstoppable!!

Thats the name of the original arabian. I forgot which book it was but it was the origin of the Godolphin Arabian.. his name was Sham in the book. 🖤
