@sacramentourbanmedia916: A deer-loving #Ohio grandmother was fatally mauled by one of the very animals she dedicated her life to rescuing after she became trapped inside their enclosure. #JodiProger, 64, had spent more than a decade rehabilitating injured whitetail deer on her five-acre property in Stewartsville. But on November 15, the longtime caretaker was killed by a buck after somehow becoming confined within the pen, according to WSYX. Authorities said several deer were inside the enclosure when Proger was discovered, leaving investigators unsure which one carried out the attack. Belmont County officers ultimately shot one aggressive buck as they attempted to reach Proger, saying the animal charged at them while they tried to get inside the pen. Proger’s devotion to deer rescue began in 2013, when she came across a doe struck and killed by a car. As its newborn fawn circled the body, Proger rushed across the highway and scooped up the orphan, naming him Wheezer. She cared for the fawn for two years until a local resident filed a complaint. State wildlife officials initially threatened to euthanize Wheezer, but Proger convinced them to let her keep him after explaining her plans to establish a rehabilitation center. It was the beginning of a mission that would define the rest of her life — and ultimately end it.#viral #fyp #
