I have two bookmarks. One for where I stop and another further ahead as a goal for what I want to read at that moment. I also embraced DNFing if I don’t enjoy a book.

I always place a bookmark ahead to mark the part I want to read, so I don’t see how much of the book is left, just the part I’m focusing on. One goal at a time 🙂↕️

I put my bookmark at each 100 pages so I am reading in a block of 100 pages, I don’t know why but it helps me.

Also audiobooks! You can listen while you’re doing other things like walking, cooking, puzzling, or any other hobbies 💗

the only thing that will truly keep you consistent is enjoying what you’re reading, people are forgetting that’s the whole point

I needed to hear that it’s okay to drop a book if I don’t like it, it kills my desire to read if reading feels like a chore :(

I agree so much with the last one! There’s no sense in forcing yourself to read something you’re not liking. It’ll only put you in a slump and you’re missing out on something you might like! Let’s destigmatize dnf-ing books

i like to read a minimum of 5 chapters a day. it doesn’t seem like a lot but finishing those 5 chapters feels rewarding especially if it’s one of those days where it feels harder to just sit down and read

the setting up a reading ritual sounds like such a good idea!! I started taking reading seriously very recently. I’m currently reading the great Gatsby (almost finished) and it’s a heavy one to start with vocabulary wise 😅 but for me it’s really helped to use a spacer/reading tool - it keeps me distracted from trying to jump ahead and it also keeps my hands busy 🥰✨

I've been setting aside "no phone time" where I bring a journal and a book and go to a nearby cafe or library and have a phoneless hour or two. Not only is this changing my reading but it's been incredibly helpful for my brain to have some intentional time where I can't have a subconscious list running of all the things I need or want to do on my phone. It's honestly been amazing

I have been way more intentional about what I read. When I find a good book, I can’t put it down. I have learned to dnf books I am not into and I no longer feel guilty.

My trick is to be reading 4-6 books at the same time, start with different genres and formats at first if you are having trouble with that many books, but you watch many serial TV shows at once, it’s no different.

what helps me is finding a booktok creator I really enjoy who does Live reading sprints where we all read together on live with chill music for 30-40 min then chit chat in the chat box for 10-15 minutes and repeating. it gives me little breaks and it keeps me accountable to stay on track with reading

Immersive reading. An audio book WITH the physical book. I don’t do audio books on their own. But listening to the audio book while I read helps me focus so much more

I’m super busy with full time work and grad school on top and have found that using audio books has helped a lot lately. I’ve always been anti audiobook, mainly due to my own inability to just sit and listen but it has helped me develop my active listening skills and attention along with allowing me to engage with books I normally wouldn’t have the time to such as on my morning and evening walks or whilst cooking dinner etc
