@relationshipswithaly: Hey avoidant partners…here’s the thing. It’s okay to need space. It’s okay to take a bit to process. It’s okay to be overwhelmed by your partner’s need to have all the answers when frankly you don’t have any. What’s not okay is to abandon mid conversation. Or to say you’ll talk about it later and then avoid it. Or to only ever address things on your timeline. Or to tell your partner that they’re “too much” just because they need some reassurance that you care. But in the middle there lies a peaceful place called security. One that says “I have needs, but I know you do too, and neither one is more important, so let’s work together.” It’s about pausing, breathing, and neither one of you sacrificing your safety. Instead, with that pause and breathe, you ground yourself in what’s best for the relationship, not just what’s best for you. It’s so simple to learn when you have the right tools. I’m a licensed couples therapist and that’s why I created the TALK blueprint just for you. It’s in my bio. Disclaimer: IG is not therapy. I'm not asking permission to take a break. I would never get permission.

for me, this is it. it's not that any attachment style is better or worse than the other- it's how needs are communicated so that both parties can be on the same page, both sides are accountable. I cant support someone how they need if they can't communicate their needs or where they're at.
