Judy Garland absolutely had no choice in doing that, child actors in the 30’s were treated TERRIBLY and her story takes the cake, when she got a voice as she grew out of studios extremely-literally managing her life she was a huge civil rights activist in the 60’s

Judy Garland was forced into doing this from the studio. Later in life, she was a strong white alley in the civil rights movement

Judy Garland is such a tragic and important tale to be remembered forever. Every moderately famous person needs to know what happened to her and not repeat the brutal stuff she was put through.

WHAT?!? You mean to tell me there was racist in the 30s and 40s?!? I can’t beleive it. Come on guys, stop digging up ancient history just to be offended. We can’t preach to end racism but hunt it down just to relive it

ppl say it was a different time, it still breathtaking & shocking when you see actual evidence at what was considered normal back in the day

I believe the consensus is that this was done before she had control of her career.

This is why there should never be any kind of censorship of any kind. i know some people mean well for hiding this from their children. but then as people grow up, they think everything back in the old days was better than it is and that's simply not the case. i made sure that my children grew up watching all of the horrible historical movies like 42 and 12 Years a Slave for example and we're not a black family. but people need to know the truth about what happened to all the members of the african diaspora not just here in the united states, but everywhere in north and south america and the caribbean.

that's Judy Garland when she was a child and forced by her parents and management to do. when she was grown she was an advocate for the civil rights movement.

black minstrels etc are why Disney classic characters have gloves on their hands as black minstrels would wear white gloves to make their hands more visible on black and white television screens and when the characters were made they borrowed that idea as the characters were mainly similar colours (black face etc)
