that's insane, i graduated last year. i was in njhs and nhs. the elizabeth earl chapter i believe. we needed 20 hours of community service a year that we didn't use for a different class or club. i'm so sorry girl. we never even had to pay to be in. all we had to pay was for our stool for graduation.

yeah and all of the people in my school who are a part of it fake half of their volunteer hours that are required and it just really sucks

Talk to the advisor of the club and explain your situation. They will most likely waive fees in your situation or find a program to cover your costs.

I genuinely think this is something you should talk to your school admins about. Like the money aspect undermines it entirely, esp for students who want to have an impact but are not financially there. Plus it’s just not normal😭

hey girl!! i was in NHS, but i didn’t not have to pay. i am pretty sure what you’re referencing is more of a “gimmick” NHS!! we all got offers in the mail but nobody did it since you have to pay! check and see if your school does a NHS local chapter, they are two separate organizations! i graduated secretary of my chapter and i never paid a cent to participate. if you ever have any questions my dms are open💕
