your videos are excellent! i look forward to the petit bourgeoisie video which, i assume, will/may focus on social mobility (or lack thereof) in banking and learning the "right" taste in order to rise ... one thought, it won't be easy, is to explain what bourdieu is reacting to in the western tradition, and it ain't taste in-itself; rather, it's I. Kant's critique of aesthetics, where Kant postulates form is superior to function, form is also superior to color (think middle class auto advertisements versus black or white upper class auto advertisements), and how all of this became dogma aesthetically, universal, the "truth" -- then, think about ancient Greek art and architecture? painted gaudy in its own time, but "received" in the western tradition as perfect Form, over mere function and ask the question at the core of it all: is pierre right or is he merely expressing class resentment despite his own brilliance (the man grew up poor and climbed his way to the very very top of rigid french academe, so he's quite aware of the core question and why people question his theory). Is an ancient greek statute beauty in itself?
