it can feel different for a lot of people, I don't have the strongest grip on what it is and even though my name says fictionkin I'm still questioning it- my experience is based on feeling like the character in the present more than feeling like them in a past life. with esther (and abaddon as current kins) I feel ALMOST maternal to them but it's not quite there- when you are a fiction kin, every person (including myself) that I've seen who are fictionkins usually find more comfort in acting like the character than acting as their "usual" selves. basically the character feels like a big part of you. (PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong)

Oh my god I know this was posted so long ago but I feel like none of these comments explain it like at all. Theres multiple kinds of Fictionkinning. The first kind, psychological, is just identifying AS the character. The second kind, metaphysically/spiritually, is when you believe that you were that character that you identify as in a past life. This relies heavily on the multiverse and string theory because if there are an infinite amount of universes then that means that there absolutely is a universe where you were that character and just like with average past lives people feel connected to that past life and want to know about it. :)

Okay, the people who says that it’s like therianthropy ARENT HELPING the thing I’m stuck on is the fact that it’s a FICTIONAL CHARACTER. The multiverse theory thing is a cool thought though. I understand that it’s involuntary, I just want to understand WHY you feel this way 😭. I read the comments and I understand more but not fully.

Imagine seeing a cartoon for the first time. You get really into it and and it almost feels like it gives you deja vu. Then you see a character in it. You almost feel like you can recognize them. As you see more of the charcter they are alot like you and it feels more then just relating to them. It feels good when you are whatching things with them but also makes you kind of sad because you aren't them phiscally or anything like that. This is kinda like what fictokining is like

ok so like it entirely depends on the person definition wise its identifying as a fictional character involuntarily simply put, the concept of it is incredibly simple in that way, just seeing yourself AS the character, that you are them and they are you then it gets into specifics: some thing its just a mental thing, that they entirely see themself as the character for whatever reason and their mind latched onto it im personally spiritual; i believe in both universes theory and reincarnation so i think my soul went through my kins life and then came here

I've heard a lot of things but personally I believe in multiple dimensions and universes where the world I kin is truly real and not "fictional". I also think that after someone comes to life (like a book series gets published) it gets its own section or universe of kind.
