I usually use masking tape wrapped around my hand (sticky side up) and press it on my cloths to make it less sticky then press on the vynal . But I have never done a brick cut out. I usually do other small things.

What if you place a rectangle shape on top of another so it double cuts just the squares and then set the pressure to cut completely through the squares.

Candle+needle - warm the needle and poke into the centre of a brick, it should melt the plastic and adhere for easy lifting. You could also try with an unheated needle. See if it will come off that way. If you're trying things, that is...

Take a hair dryer to it and it will shrink the vinyl and makes it easier to weed
