I don't remember what type of filter we have but ours is vacuum able and washable. Vacuum it and take it outside to hose it down. Let it dry and good to go. We paid 89 bucks but don't have to pay for it again. Once and done

Just change yourself filter twice a year once for heating and then once for cooling season. Cheap filters are fine the more expensive ones clogged too quickly reduce his airflow. It takes one minute to change it.
