There was definitely money or guns hidden in the feeders. Remember him and Maggie was getting a divorce. He may have been hiding money from the divorce by liquidating assets and stock piling money that’s hidden from that or embezzlement

I really don't think they were that close as a family. I think they all drank to excess together which gave them a false sense of connection to each other. That & presumably killing wildlife which made them feel they had things in common. Busters conversations with his Dad come across as if they barely know one another.
