It's starts verrry early.I had a grown family member tell my 6yr old self She knows I wish I had my mother's hair (1/2 Portuguese) I knew it was sick instantly.

When my hair was flat ironed in hs, a girl asked me if I only blowdried my hair bc it looked too full. Lots of kids used to say my hair looked like a wig 😭

Ever since my uncle called my hair nappy when I wore it in an Afro… I haven’t done it since and I was in elementary. Idk it just stuck with me cause I was like rly excited about proud of my hair and look and he made me feel rly insecure afterwards about it.

A black female teacher at my school made it her business to say my light skin sister was cute and then asked my sister if she was going to walk her little brother to class while I stood there in the exact identical outfit as my sister hair in braids w/beads at the end, earrings in my ear , I became self conscious immediately after.so yes it does start really early!

Yeah. I went to church a few months ago after washing my hair and I had it into a cute curly style. This lady came up and put her hands in my head and said "Your head is nappy". I said no, my hair is kinky. Does that bother you? Nappy means your hair is dry and you can't comb through it, mine is VERY moisturized because I rarely put heat in it.
